let’s build a brewpub!

Daniëlla developed, together with her homebrewing boy-friend, the recipes and concept of the L’Arogante beers. She has been a brewery-guide for some years, is a certified ‘algemene bierkenner’ and beersommelier (zythologist) and is studying to become a brew(st)er.

Dimitri is the founder of Pils 13, an artisanal pilsner with pronounced taste. He is al well-known figure in the catering industry in Ghent and beyond. He also manages the succesful ‘Kantien’ , that attracts many happy customers to the ‘Watersportbaan’ for its nice beerlist and tasty tapa’s.

Janos is our brewer and is one of the driving forces behind Hedonis Ambachtsbier that brought innovative beers into the market, among others Ouwen Duiker, Suzanne and Excuse me while I kiss my Stout.  Janos used to be a brewer at the renowned Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi.

The worldwide beer (r)evolution has been going for a while. Belgium, with it’s strong beer and brewing roots, was a bit slower to catch on. But the Ghent beer scene has greatly changed over the last few years.

Ghent is, in fact, a big village. That’s also a part of its charm. We used to bump into eachother regularly on beer-related events. Pretty soon, it turned out we had the same dream: opening an innovative brewery and taproom in Ghent. Not that Ghent didn’t have anything to offer. It is truly a hidden gem, not only beerwise. But we wanted to put our city on the map even more as an innovative city of great taste.

Our ambition was to create a place where we can experiment in our very own brewery and look for new styles and tastes. A brewery where collaboration brews with other brewers and beer enthousiasts, aren’t uncommon.

Our brewpub has become a place for young and old, for ‘beergeek’ and ‘beernovice’ where you can relax, have a beer, a bite and meet people. ‘Home away from home’.

A few years (and some blood, sweat and tears) later, our brewpub is a fact, in a beautiful location in the city we love. It’s up to you to determine if we succeeded in our ambition!
